BPTT Renegades and Pan Elders beat their way to the top of the field on Saturday night to walk away as the 2018 Panorama Champs.

For Pan Elders they regain their title in the medium band category having won in 2017 and for BPTT Renegades this is the first win for the large band from Charlotte Street in 21 years.

It was a double crown for Arranger Duvone Stewart who dedicated the BPTT Renegades win to former Ace steelband arranger Jit Samaroo.

Cherrylene Lewis reports.

On Sunday, Minister of National Security Edmund Dillon, Acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams and Chief of Defence Staff Hayden Pritchard were part of a press conference addressing a planned threat to disrupt Carnival. It was revealed that an eighth person was detained in connection to the threat and the National Security Minister says he is confident that the work done by the protective services has quelled the possibility of the threat to Carnival.

Five people were arrested by officers of the DUI Task Force for failing breathalyser tests during road check exercises conducted in the Central Division between 4pm on Friday and 3am on Saturday.

The communities of East Port of Spain came together on Carnival Friday in a rare show of love and unity as children of the area enjoyed an afternoon of paint, powder and Soca music.

The event put on by a few concerned residents in the community, under the theme "Live Love Laugh", is aimed at tearing down the borders and boundaries that exist in the communities in East Port of Spain.
