CARIFTA Profile: Shot Putter Iana Roach

This time next weekend 51 of our top junior athletes will be in competition in the 2017 CARIFTA Games in Curacao.
One of those athletes is shot putter Iana Roach of Memphis Pioneers who will be competing in her second CARIFTA Games.
Kent Fuentes spoke to Iana recently.
Dr. Rochelle Mohammed, a director of the Trinidad and Tobago Boxing Board of Control, lamented that the sport was plagued by adhoc strategic planning, which hampered this country from fielding properly trained and prepared boxers at the Olympics.
Dr. Mohammed said it was the mandate of the current board to reverse the archaic governance of the boxing board and get more athletes into international competitions.

The feature speaker for the commemorative event, international broadcaster Sir Trevor McDonald, spoke about the career of Sir Frank and the importance of the work of the committee.
