And according to the athletes themselves it was something they needed.

The third night of competition in the National Long-Course Swimming Championships proved very interesting with a number of swimmers achieving the qualifying standard for Carifta Games.

Ruskin Mark has highlights of a smart mix of strokes.

Central FC rebounded from their shock 2-0 defeat to Portmore United in their group 'b' opener to blank Haiti’s Racing Club 3-0 to stay alive in the Caribbean Club Championship Series in the Dominican Republic.

As we hear from Ruskin Mark, Jason Marcano was the hero for the Sharks who are still alive in the competition heading into their monster clash with host club Atlantico FC who drew 2-2 with Portmore United on Friday evening.

As we close out 2017 most of us are anxious to see what 2018 has in store for us as individuals as well as the country.

Among those keen to look ahead are a number of this country’s athletes whose season is almost upon us.

Ruskin Mark has more on two such athletes who copped the top junior awards at the TTOC ceremony recently.

The Men's Mile Relay Team not surprisingly picked up the Sportsman of the Year honour at the annual TTOC awards ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Friday evening.

Four of the five members of the team were present including Jereem Richards, who copped the People's Choice Award as well.

But the inaugural Future Is Female Award went to national cricket captain Merissa Aguilleira for her outstanding contribution to the national team as well as the West Indies outfit.

Several of this country's emerging track and field stars have just completed an intense three-day camp hosted by the Cougars Athletics Club as they prepare for next February’s Barbados Relay Fair.
