Athletes who represented Trinidad and Tobago with distinction in recent months have been assured that they will be paid their just dues on September 12th, as promised by the Government.

The pledge was made by Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Shamfa Cudjoe, at a special reception hosted by the Prime Minister at the Diplomatic Centre in St. Ann's, and attended by a host of talented local athletes.

She said the payment was part of the overall Sports Policy which will be launched on the said date.

In celebrating the athletes, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley singled out Brian Lara and Hasely Crawford for special mention as flag bearers of this country's excellence, notwithstanding our relative lack of size when compared to other nations.
