President of the La Brea Off-Season Football League, Gerald Debesette, says members of the Young Stars football team have been kicked out of the competition following the violent beating of Referee Michael London last Thursday.

Debesette apologised to London and the Football Referee Association, which is threatening not to service the League with immediate effect over the incident.

He described Thursday’s brawl as unfortunate since the League's purpose was to expose the talent hidden in the community, and the League will issue bans on the offending players.

The incident occurred during the knock-out clash between League newcomers, Gonzales United, and Young Stars of La Brea at the Brighton Recreation Ground in Point D'or.

The Referee was attacked and beaten by the players and some of their supporters.
