The Trinidad and Tobago Solid Waste Management Company (SWMCOL) was pleased to participate in the first ever Caribbean high-level ministerial forum that took place during the 26th annual conference of the Caribbean Water and Waste Water (CWWA) in Georgetown, Guyana. During October 19th to 20th, 2017 the forum’s participants finalized a Regional Strategic Plan for Waste Management that will be laid before the United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya in December 2017.

On Friday October, 20th 2017, Senator, the Hon. Allyson West, Minister in the Ministry of Finance, met with representatives of the Trinidad and Tobago Members Club Association, to discuss the recent fiscal measures which were announced during the presentation of the 2018 Budget Statement on October 2nd, 2017.

20 October 2017: The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM), Ministry of National Security has activated its response mechanisms and mobilized resources to assist persons in flood affected areas following this week’s persistent rainfall.

The Ministry of Finance wishes to clarify certain misconceptions regarding the increase in taxes on gambling and gaming devices and meetings with stakeholders to discuss same.

The Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts has approved from its 2017/2018 budget allocation the sum of $1,315,000 for Divali celebrations 2017.
