Following several reports of flooding on Tuesday, the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government activated several emergency operations centres of the Disaster Management Units across the country.
Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs commended France on taking a leading role on the global stage in dealing with environmental issues of importance to Small Island Developing States such as Trinidad and Tobago. In response to reports that Tropical Storm Bret had devastating effects on certain parts of the nation earlier this month, The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturing Association (TTMA) immediately embarked upon a humanitarian exercise to reach those most in need.
The TTMA had no convincing to do among its membership with many readily coming forward to send supplies which they envisioned would be essential in such a critical period for those affected.
WASA customers serviced by the Carlsen Field Water Treatment Plant may be experiencing an interruption in their water supply.
The utility cut the service at 8am and it will continue to be so until 8pm.

A Tribute to Dr. Michael Alleyne


It was with deep sadness that the Board of Directors of Trinidad and Tobago Transparency Institute (TTTI) learned of the death of its distinguished former Director and greatly respected and loved colleague Dr. Michael Alleyne. Dr. Alleyne died on Wednesday 14 June 2017 after a long illness.

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise that the access road used for exiting the Caroni Savannah Road unto the Uriah Butler Highway (South Bound Lane) has been temporarily closed to all motorists.
Motorists travelling along the Southern Main Road in Caroni who wish to access the Uriah Butler Highway South Bound via the Caroni Savannah Road should proceed North along the Southern Main Road to access the Churchill Roosevelt Highway and exit at the Churchill Roosevelt Highway/ Uriah Butler interchange to proceed South.
The MET office has discontinued its rough seas bulletin.
In a statement it said buoy data as well as reports indicate that sea conditions over the past 6 hours have been gradually improving along affected coastlines. And that currently sea conditions are moderate with wave heights reaching up to 2.5 meters in open waters and near 1 meter in sheltered areas.
