Following the recently concluded 2017 IMF Article IV Consultation, the Ministry of Finance deems it important to share some of the positive actions being taken by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and which were endorsed by the IMF in their Country Report of November 21st 2017:
November 22, 2017 Kent House, Maraval –On Monday we celebrated Universal Children’s Day, with the 2017 theme being “It’s a Kids Takeover!” In a fantastic show of just how powerful children can be, the Brownie Guides group of St. Peter’s Private Primary School, Pointe-a-Pierre and the WE Club of ASJA Girls’ College Tunapuna spearheaded separate donation drives in order to collect items for the less fortunate and persons who have been affected by flooding. Yesterday, they handed over items to the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government for distribution in the affected areas.
November 20th, 2017 Kent House, Maraval – On Friday, Senior Disaster Management Coordinator in the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government joined with Disaster Management Coordinators from all 14 Municipal Corporations to conduct a standard operations session on issues such as Rodent infestation, Leptospirosis and the Zika virus.

November 17, 2017 Kent House, Maraval – At the Team-Building Workshop for Local Government Practitioners that took place on Wednesday, Minister Haji Kazim Hosein issued a call to all Municipal Corporations to improve the facilities available to disabled and elderly persons who visit their offices.
Residents of the community of Spaniol Road, Covigne Diego Martin now have a new bridge to traverse in and out of their area.
On Monday 13th November 2017 (yesterday), the Hon. Colm Imbert, Minister of Finance, met with Mr. Watson Duke, President of the Public Services Association (PSA) and members of the PSA from the Customs and Excise Division and the Inland Revenue Division, to discuss matters surrounding the proposed establishment of the Trinidad & Tobago Revenue Authority (TTRA).
