US Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps has done it again and now has a record 19 Olympic Gold Medals to his name.

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) is advising citizens to be vigilant of the 24 hour period of inclement weather as indicated in Trinidad and Tobago’s Meteorological Service’s last Information bulletin issued at 7:30pm.

Teen Shot In Jouvert Celebration Dies

14-year old Joel Daniel, who was shot in the head in Sea Lots yesterday, has died. Joel, who attended Mucurapo East Secondary, loved sports, especially football. His grandmother spoke to C News' Ian Wason, and told him she wants criminal elements to stop shedding so much blood.

As rumors Re-surfaced that the Prime Minister has been diagnosed with cancer, leader of the COP, Dr. Anirudh Mahabir wants Prime Minister Dr.Keith Rowley to be upfront with the country about his health.

Bad Weather Postpones Chow's Repecharge

 

T&T's Olympic rower Felice Aisha Chow will have to wait a bit longer to know if she qualifies for the next round in the Rowing competition after Sunday's event was called off due to bad weather.

A man has died following a shooting incident at Building 4, Maloney Gardens. The victim, a man, known only as Sunil at this point, was shot and killed on Friday evening.

In another incident, fourteen year old, Jerrel Roberts, of Pioneer Drive, Sea Lots, is in a critical condition at the Port Of Spain General Hospital, after being shot in his head.

The incident is reported to have occurred at around 11.30 this morning, while he was taking part in Jouvert Celebrations in the area.

Police say the street Parade wasn't authorised as no permission was given for the event.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding both shootings are continuing .

Arson Suspected In Tobago Fire

Arson is suspected in an early morning fire in Tobago that gutted the home of Mt. Grace resident, Ricardo Sampson.

Fire officials responded to the blaze around 6:15 Saturday morning.

Fire Fighters made several attempts to put out the blaze, but they weren't able to save the home.

The wooden structure was burnt to the ground, and Mr. Sampson said he lost everything in the fire.

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh says all testing for the Zika virus should take place at public health institutions to avoid false negative testing.

This as the ministry of health announced that they've recorded some 215 cases of the virus in the country... 78 of them in pregnant women.

Orisha followers celebrated the 16th annual Shango-Ushun rain festival at Shrines Garden, Upper Gasparillo Road, Santa Cruz on Friday evening.

That event started a three day festival that this year carries the theme: "Women - The Holders of Tradition-Initiating Balance."
