The Court of Appeal has dismissed the election petition appeals of the UNC.

Chairman of the Toco/Sangre Grande Regional Corporation Terry Rondon is asking for help as fishermen have been badly affected as a result of rough seas and high tides along several beaches in the Toco area.

The price of alcohol and cigarettes and a 7% tax on online purchases will take effect on Thursday 20th October 2016. Which is tomorrow.

The hikes were announced by the Minister of Finance Colm Imbert during the 2016-2017 budget presentation at the end of September.

October 19, 2016 – The 9th San Fernando City Council is set to dissolve on Friday 21st October, 2016 as it will come to the end of its official term. 

Executive Director at the Centre for Human Development, Hanif Benjamin, is questioning what is being done for the children and family who were traumatized as a result of crime.

Speaking on Good Morning Trinidad and Tobago Benjamin said the initial response of anyone is to offer help however that help is not maintained leaving those traumatized to fend for themselves.

Pastor Clive Dottin says crime in the Laventille area is on the decline. However recent incidents where school children were killed are still traumatizing teachers.

In 12 months there have been about 3 cases where students attending the Success Laventille School were murdered. According to Mr. Dottin there needs to be some sought of help for them.

Small craft operators, sea bathers and all other marine interests are advised to exercise caution in any sea related activities as a result of the rough seas and high tide. 

Point Fortin Mayor Clyde Paul is to appear in court on Wednesday. On Tuesday evening he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after he failed a breathalyser test. 
 
Reports say Mayor Paul was stopped during a roadblock exercise in La Brea. C News understands while being questioned the mayor was administered the test.
 
He was taken to the La Brea Police Station and formally charged.
