Petrotrin wishes to advise members of the public of the following planned activities at its Pointe-a-Pierre and Point Fortin ports today in commemoration of World Maritime Day.

- All vessels alongside and in Petrotrin’s two (2) harbours will display dress ship flags
- Between 12:00 noon and 12:05 p.m. today, these vessels will sound their horns, bells and whistles.

Members of the public observing these activities during this period are hereby advised that there is no need for alarm nor concern.

World Maritime Day, introduced by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), is celebrated annually in recognition of the international maritime industry’s robust contribution to the world’s economy, especially in the areas of shipping. While the event’s date varies by year and country, it is always celebrated during the last week of September. This year, Trinidad and Tobago is joining the international community in observing World Maritime Day on 2017 September 28.
