Emergency Operations Centres Activated Following Several Reports Of Flooding

Following several reports of flooding on Tuesday, the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government activated several emergency operations centres of the Disaster Management Units across the country.
In a release on Wednesday, Disaster Management Coordinator at the ministry, Mr. Rish Siew said, "we activated the EOCs in Port-of-Spain, Penal/Debe, Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo, Mayaro/Rio Claro, Diego Martin and San Juan/Laventille."
The EOC’s were sent out to deal with reports of flash flooding, landslips and fallen trees.
Siew confirmed that they were also activated to monitor the situation in their communities.
Minister Kazim Hosein said in the release, "we are working closely with all stakeholders to ensure that there is the most effective response to the inclement weather. People must know what resources are available to them. The corporations' communication with the public is of utmost importance".
