Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar is today commending members of the Muslim community, and all citizens who gave of themselves, whether it was their time, food, clothing and other necessities to those affected by Tropical Storm Bret.
In her Eid message, the former Prime Minister said it is during times like these that the importance of working together in peace and harmony becomes evident, and she applauds and thanks the many volunteers who have assisted their neighbours, families and friends.
As you celebrate Eid she is encouraging people to keep strong in their faith and continue the good work they've been doing in your communities.
She is also encouraging all citizens to recommit to advancing our nation-building efforts.
The moon was sighted on Saturday and Eid was celebrated on Sunday. Government had originally given the Eid holiday on Monday.
