Guns and Drugs Seized During Anti-Crime Exercises

Three illegal guns and a quantity of drugs were seized by officers of the Southwestern Division over the weekend.

Around 8:10pm on Saturday 25th March, 2017, officers of the Siparia Police Station, were on patrol along the S.S. Erin Road, when they had cause to stop a white Nissan B-15 motor vehicle, driven by a 33-year-old Maraval man.

A search of the car led to the discovery of three (3) nine millimetre pistols, two crocus bags containing 42 packets of marijuana weighing approximately 23.8 kilograms and one packet containing cocaine, weighing 1.94 kilograms.

The driver was arrested and charged with possession of firearms, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.

Meanwhile, on Sunday 26th March, 2017, officers from the Duncan Street Police Post, executed a search warrant at an apartment complex at George Street, Port of Spain.

The search yielded a black and grey Sig Saur P228 pistol, with a magazine, containing fifteen (15) rounds of ammunition, under a mattress.

A male occupant who was found in the apartment, was subsequently charged for the possession of firearm and ammunition.
