San Fernando City Council Dissolves On Friday 21st October, 2016

October 19, 2016 – The 9th San Fernando City Council is set to dissolve on Friday 21st October, 2016 as it will come to the end of its official term. 

“We have had a successful tenure as a Council and achieved a great deal for the wonderful city of San Fernando. I would like to thank everyone for the cooperation they displayed for the duration of this Council’s term in office.” said Mayor Alderman Haji Kazim Hosein.

He further informed that the People’s National Movement will be holding its convention on October 30th after which the party will be concentrating on the preparations for local government elections, and awaiting direction from Honourable Prime Minister and Political Leader Dr. Keith Rowley on the election date.

Out of the nine elected Council Members, five from the PNM and one from the UNC (formerly of the COP) will be offering themselves to serve the city once again.

The Mayor will remain in office until the new Mayor is sworn in.
