Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has assured the residents of Carenage that all the projects stopped in the area will soon be restarted. Speaking during a public meeting in the Constituency of Diego Martin West on Friday, he stressed the importance of Local Government reform in a bid to transform the way corporations deliver services.
Dr Rowley also mentioned plans to further develop the area. He said the Chaguaramas Development Authority has taken the decision to encourage some residents in the community to access farm lands in the Chaguaramas valley. 17 women have graduated from the Life Skills program at the Women’s Prison at the Women's Prison in Golden Grove, Arouca.
The programme a collaboration between the Prison Services and New Horizon Ministries saw facilitators entering the system and working with the women.
During the graduation ceremony the women showed off their talent by serenading the guests, while speaker Peter Felix encouraged them to overcome their current situation since it does not have to be their final act in life.
The programme is part of the service's initiative to prepare the inmates for re entry into society.
