Operations Return To Normal At Petrotrin

It's business as usual at state owned Petrotrin on Tuesday as the over three thousand workers are content with the 5 percent salary increase for the period 2011-2014.

The workers had threatened to strike on Monday. Saying they were not getting a fair deal for the 2014-2017 period.

After days of talks, however, with the union, the company and the minister of Labour, the parties agreed on 5% for the 2011-2014 period while talks for 2014-2017 will restart at a later date.

Vice president Human Resources at Petrotrin, Neil Derrick, told C News the plant began functioning at normal capacity last night.
