Trinis safe after Dallas sniper attack

A Trinidadian family is safe but shaken after being caught in the midst of Thursday night's sniper attack in Dallas which left five police officers dead and seven others wounded.

T&T national Tricia Huggins-Abdullah and her family had just arrived in the city for their vacation and were taking in the sights at the Reunion Tower when the incident happened.

Former PM lays in State at NAPA POS

The body of the former Prime Minister Patrick Manning arrived at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) in Port of Spain on Friday for its second and final day of public viewing.

The cortege arrived at 9am with members of the Regiment bearing the casket through the North Campus where it was placed on the dais.

A police officer is in hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the left arm after being fired upon by the suspect in the double murder of a father and son which occurred on May 13th, 2016.

No 16096 PC Darrin Francis,35, of the Eastern Division Task Force is said to be in serious condition at the Sangre Grande Hospital and at risk of losing his arm.

There are plans to entomb the body of former Prime Minister Patrick Manning at the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity in Port of Spain.

This was confirmed by Minister in the Ministry of the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart Young, at Thursday's Post Cabinet Media Briefing.

 

Citizens have begun to say their final farewell to the late former Prime Minister Patrick Manning.

The body of the former Prime Minister arrived at the NAPA South Campus for the first of two public viewings at 10am on Thursday. He was led through the streets by a military escort, his casket draped in the national flag and laying on a gun carriage.

The Minister of Public Administration and Communications Maxie Cuffie has announced that National Broadcaster CNMG will be the host station of the State Funeral service for former Prime Minister Patrick Manning.

He said no other camera crews will be allowed inside the Holy Trinity Cathedral on Saturday.

Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi says no official approach has been made to the government concerning renaming of any building or institution after the late former Prime Minister Patrick Manning.

Trinidad and Tobago Police Service wishes to advise the motoring and travelling public that due to the state funeral of the late former Prime Minister, The Honorable Patrick Manning, the following traffic restrictions will be in place on Saturday 9th July, 2016 :-
