Government has submitted the contract for incoming Police Commissioner Gary Griffith to the Chief Personnel Officer.

At Thursday's Post Cabinet Media Briefing, the Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, said while the Police Service Commission has given Mr. Griffith his letter of appointment, it falls to the Cabinet to decide the Terms and Conditions of his contract.

Mr. Griffith is currently out of Trinidad and Tobago on vacation with his family.

Minister Young said no start date has been given for Mr. Griffith, as this is also being worked out in the contract.

Acting Police Commissioner Stephen Williams is set to go on vacation leave from August 17th to 30th.

The National Security Minister is optimistic that the new Commissioner of Police will be in place by that time, and there will be a seamless handover.
