A Mayaro man stood before a Magistrate on Thursday, charged with the kidnapping and rape of an ex-lover.

Thirty five year old Nandlal Ryan Dookie, of Pierreville, Mayaro, plead guilty to all the charges read out to him before Mayaro Magistrate Brambhanan Dubay.

He was also charged with breach of a protection order, common assault, possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition.

Dookie was arrested on Wednesday after police responded to a call from his ex-girlfriend.

She reportedly phoned the police in secret after he allegedly took her from her apartment to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her.

Officers listening in on the call were able to discern where he had taken her and the Eastern Division Task Force later found Dookie, his vehicle, as well as his victim, at WASA Well Road No 13.

They also found a Smith and Wesson revolver along with five rounds of .38mm ammunition.

The matter has been adjourned to Monday.
