Trauma Can Have A Very Negative Effect On The Brain Of Teenagers

Lecturer at the Faculty of Medical Sciences UWI, Dr Asha Pemberton says the development of teenagers tends to be lost in society, but it is a crucial time to be considered, especially if trauma is a factor.

She says more attention needs to be paid to the elements that affect the teenager as these will determine their lives as adults.

She notes that resilience is one of the major issues for the youth, in order for them to learn how to deal with life. Dr. Pemberton says this is a major deciding factor which determines who turns to negative elements in life to survive and who can brush off calamity and grow despite harm.
