A 39 year old man, with no fixed residence, was arrested by officers mere minutes after robbing a 22 year old Piarco woman of a handbag aboard a maxi taxi.

The woman reported to officers attached to the Interagency Task Force, Duncan Street Post that she was in a maxi taxi proceeding along the Priority Bus Route, around 3:45pm on Thursday when it came to a stop.

A man exiting the vehicle snatched her handbag containing a cell phone, a quantity of cash and several documents.

The man escaped by running along Erica Street.

The incident and a description of the suspect were communicated via the wireless, which led to the man being arrested shortly after by officers attached to the Besson Street Police Station, who were on patrol.
