Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Kazim Hosein, is urging the Muslim community to continue the beautiful things they've been doing in the month of Ramadan throughout the year.

He says the Holy Month of Ramadan trains people to practice patience, to be generous and helpful with one another. It is a month in which people train and discipline themselves for continued devotion for the remaining eleven months.

He calls on Muslims to carry through with this same passion for the rest of the year, and to teach their children and young people to do the same.

Extending greetings to the Muslim community, he reminds that Eid is not only a day of celebration but also a time for reflection on the sacrifices made during the Holy month.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, has called on citizens not to let those who are promoting discord and division in the nation achieve their goal.

Mrs. Persad-Bissessar says the nation is facing troubling times and she urged citizens to join hands and work together to ensure a return to peace and prosperity.

She says together we can make a difference and bring about positive change.

She calls on citizens to work together to strengthen the values of mutual respect and trust and deepen the bonds of friendship among all citizens in the country.

Mrs. Persad-Bissessar also says while Eid is a joyous occasion, she asks that the poor, needy and homeless not be forgotten. She urged citizens to give as much as they can from their possessions, time, and abilities to make the world a better place for all.
