A 30 year old Gasparillo man has been granted $60,000 bail at the San Fernando Magistrates' Court after he attempted to rob an 83 year old man at a commercial bank in San Fernando.

Jerome James, of Cippy Street, Gasparillo, appeared before Senior Magistrate Cherril-Anne Antoine on Wednesday after being charged with larceny.

On Monday, the victim was transacting business at the counter of a bank along High Street, San Fernando, when James allegedly snatched a bag containing over $34,000 and attempted to escape.

Security guards quickly subdued James, who was subsequently arrested by officers of the San Fernando Criminal Investigations Department.

The cash was recovered and returned to the victim.

The matter was postponed to Wednesday 11th July, 2018.
