Officers remained tight-lipped when asked to comment on the status of the investigation into an incident which resulted in the death of Ashdale Mc Hutchinson.

ASP Michael Jackman said at this time there's not much that can be said on the issue.

The TTPS had condemned the actions of residents of Oropune Gardens who tied and beat up Mr. Mc Hutchinson, who they accused of inappropriately approaching a child from the area.

Mr. Mc Hutchinson succumbed to his injuries at hospital.

ASP Michael Jackman said vigilante justice is a serious matter and the TTPS does not condone use of force beyond that which is reasonably necessary in apprehending and detaining a person suspected of having committed, or being in the act of committing, an arrestable serious offence.
