He's our jazz father!

That’s the way Anne Fridal describes local icon, Ralph Davies, who, she says, has influenced many musicians.

Davies has contributed to the success of calypsonians like Sparrow, Kitchener, Lord Relator, Short Pants, and Lord Superior, and has also worked with the likes of internationally renowned songstress, Nina Simone.

A concert is being held to honour this living legend who will celebrate his 90th birthday. The celebration will be held on Sunday June 17th at Club Fuzion, Cascadia Hotel, St. Ann's from 6pm.

Ms. Fridal says such an event is important for many reasons.

She believes this event will also expose a local audience to authentic jazz music, delivered by a stellar cast of all-local musicians.
