A 24-year-old Canadian woman is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate on Monday, charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The woman, who is 4 months pregnant, was arrested at the Piarco International Airport on Wednesday as she prepared to board a Caribbean Airlines flight to Canada at around 11:15 am.

Officers of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit had reason to stop the woman after she was found to be acting suspiciously.

Her luggage was searched and 3.26g of cocaine was discovered in three transparent packets.
