The Central Division of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service may be for some, a hotbed of crime, but according to the Police Complaints Authority Director, it is also a magnet for reports on police bad behaviour.

Director David West made this revelation at a PCA Public Meeting in the Central Division.

He said the allegations are especially high in the Chaguanas area with acts of discreditable conduct being high on the list. Assaults, threats and fraud are also frequently reported against police officers in the Central Division.

The Deputy Director, Michelle Solomon-Baksh, assured the Chaguanas borough and its residents that the work the Authority does was important. It provided, she said, an untainted investigative eye into questionable circumstances.

There were 168 fatal police shootings between December 10th, 2010 and March 2018 and 127 non-fatal police shootings in the same time period.
