The Siparia Regional Corporation (SRC) was visited by bailiffs on Tuesday.

They seized several items, including vehicles, as they sought to recover over $700,000 owed to a former employee from a legal settlement.

The matter stemmed from a personal injury claim made by Mr. Neru Joseph seven years ago after he was left bedridden when a plank fell on him at the Corporation.

Corporation Chairman, Dr. Glenn Ramadarsingh, said while he understands that the matter has been pending for far too long, the fact of the matter is that there is no money in the coffers of the SRC to pay.

A number of items were seized from the Corporation by bailiffs under the close supervision police officers.

Dr. Ramadharsingh is now appealing to the Ministry of Local Government to assist in making a payment to Mr. Joseph, since the items seized are essential for the running of the Corporation.
