Minister Hinds Leads Special Select Committee On Appointing Top Cop

Minister in the Ministry of the Attorney General, Fitzgerald Hinds, has been elected to serve as Chairman of the Parliament's Special Select Committee.

The Committee, which was appointed two weeks ago to discuss the legislation to select a Commissioner of Police, met for the first time on Friday.

The Committee agreed on a Work Programme and will hold its next meeting in public on the morning of Friday February 23rd, 2018.

In preparation for the next meeting, the Committee sent for all papers and records relevant to the selection process for the appointment to the offices of Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police, in accordance with the process outlined in Legal Notice 218 of 2015.
