Lifeguards are asking members of the public to be aware of prevailing weather conditions before venturing to any of the nation's beaches this week.

President of the Emergency Medical Technicians Union, Jamiele Sydney, says this should play a major part in your decision to make the trip.

He also notes that if you decide to go to the beach, you need to pay attention to your surroundings.

He is asking all bathers and tourists not to consume alcohol, or take medication before going into the water.

Mr. Sydney says his lifeguards are always on the job and willing to work but the Ministry of National Security is not making the job easy for them and this is further endangering the lives of the public.
