Minister of Transport Rohan Sinanan handed over rebate cheques to Route 2 maxi taxi drivers on Tuesday.

The rebate applies to maxi taxi operators who purchased 25-seater vehicles as part of a tax waiver commitment.

Speaking during a brief Handing-Over Ceremony at the Ministry's Head Office in Port of Spain, Minister Sinanan said he was pleased to bring some measure of relief to the drivers, many of whom have been waiting for twelve years.

The policy, which was amended in 2016, now only applies to CNG vehicles.

Minister Sinanan urged drivers to capitalise on this initiative which represents significant savings.
