JSC Discusses The Rights Of Single Fathers

It's time to change the way society views the role of fatherhood.

This is the view of Committee Members who are at this time sitting before a Joint Select Committee of Parliament on Human Rights and Equality, set up to look specifically at the role of fatherhood in society.

Director of the Single Fathers' Association, Errol Fabien, said as it stands, mothers are often seen as playing a more critical role than fathers - a perspective he strongly believes needs to be amended.

President of the Association, Rhondall Feeles, referenced statistics derived from a study of Trinidad and Tobago's family court system, which show fathers being given less preference for sole custody.
