Police Officer Shot & Bandit Killed During Shootout In Marabella

One police officer has been hospitalised and one suspected bandit is dead following a shootout in Marabella.

According to reports, PC Anand Ramsaran of the Marabella Police Station was among a team of officers who responded to a robbery in the area. Officers were fired upon arrival at the scene and a gunfight followed.

Ramsaran was shot in the chest and was taken to the hospital.

Police were able to shoot two of the bandits involved in the robbery, killing one of them. The identity of the dead bandit was not released.

The other two bandits have been taken into custody.

PC Ramsarran is the second officer to be shot in a robbery this week. PC Babwah died while attempting to foil a robbery in Arouca on Monday.
