Police are maintaining a heavy presence at strategic points along the Beetham Highway.

The Police Service, in an update on Twitter, said traffic is now flowing freely.

Residents of Beetham Gardens littered the highway with debris on Thursday morning after a police exercise in the area resulted in the arrest of two alleged gang leaders.

Amateur video of the protest showed drivers heading along the Eastbound carriageway attempting to turn around to avoid the commotion.

Police officers later brought the situation under control and cleared the debris.

However when C News spoke to some residents, they denied involvement in the protest action.
