Assistant Commissioner of Police - Tobago, Garfield Moore, has confirmed that there was a failed attempt at kidnapping a school girl in Tobago on Wednesday.

According to ACP Moore, a 15 year old student left her home to take a car to get to her school in Scarborough at around 6:30am.

ACP Moore said she entered a white vehicle and instead of taking her to Scarborough, the driver turned and went in the opposite direction.

ACP Moore said the girl was accosted by three men in the vehicle.

C News understands that villagers along the Roxborough/Bloody Bay Link Road, where the incident actually happened, rescued the child and summoned the police.

The white car was retrieved, the three men were held, and are assisting police with their investigations.

ACP Moore said the child was medically examined and will be closely monitored.
