Police Find Guns, Ammunition And Drugs During Anti-Crime Exercises In Laventille

A revolver and a quantity of ammunition were found by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force during an anti-crime exercise in the Laventille district on Monday.

Officers conducted the exercise between 8pm and midnight, during which several persons and vehicles were stopped and searched in the vicinity of Picton Road and Fatima Trace.

Officers then observed two men walking through a track off Fatima Trace. Upon seeing the officers, the men threw an object into some nearby bushes and ran off.

A search of the area resulted in the revolver and three rounds of .38mm ammunition being discovered.

No arrest was made in connection with the finds.

Separately, a revolver and a quantity of marijuana were discovered by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force Strike Team during an anti-crime exercise earlier in the day.

A statement from the TTPS said an exercise was conducted between 9am and 1pm on Monday.

Officers went to a track at the corner of Picton and Africa Roads in Laventille, where they conducted searches of the surrounding areas.

The searches resulted in the revolver and six rounds of .38mm ammunition being found. Two packets containing 112 grammes of marijuana were also discovered in a plastic bag.

No arrest was made in connection with the finds.
