A Secondary School Principal and one of his teachers have appeared in court on charges relating to multiple counts of fraud and misbehaviour in public office.

Principal of the Fyzabad Secondary School, Troy Jebodhsingh, and the Physical Education teacher, Nigel Lakhan, appeared before Senior Magistrate Cheryl Ann Antoine in the San Fernando Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Mr. Jebodhsingh, 50, is facing four charges of misbehavior in public office, and two counts of uttering forged CXC certificates.

Forty one year old Lakhan is charged with two counts of uttering forged CXC certificates to the School Supervisor III, two counts of uttering to the SSFL forged application forms, and two counts of forgery.

Investigations by the Fraud Squad discovered that students who had not acquired the necessary CXC passes or permission from the Ministry of Education, were allowed entry into the Sixth Form at the Fyzabad Secondary School, with the intention of having them participate in the Secondary Schools Football League.

Fraud Squad officers executed a search warrant at the school on Wednesday and seized several documents from the Principal's office.
