Senior Counsel Martin Daly says there are two serious issues regarding the latest matter with Chief Justice Ivor Archie that need to be considered.

Mr. Daly issued a release on the matter on behalf of retired Head of the Public Service, Reginald Dumas, and himself.

The two men raised the matter of the allegation that during an official engagement in Guyana, the Chief Justice was associating with a person with a criminal record arising out of the forgery of the signatures of two Judicial officers.

The second allegation relates to a solicitation made to obtain alternative security arrangements for Supreme Court Judges from a private sector company, which, they said, is undoubtedly a matter for a public procurement process.

Mr. Daly and Mr. Dumas said the Chief Justice's failure to provide a comprehensive response has a significant potential to impact negatively on the institution of the Judiciary.
