Petrotrin Contains Oil Spill In The Gulf Of Paria

There was another oil spill in the Gulf of Paria.

The Environmental Management Authority confirmed this, saying it was notified by Petrotrin on Thursday of an oil spill approximately six nautical miles offshore in the Soldado North Field.

It said the information received was that the spill emanated from Petrotrin's Trinmar operations, from Cluster 21 to Platform 14, in its Soldado North Field.

The source of the spill is above water.

Petrotrin later reported that clean-up activities had been concluded.

The company said following the report of the spill at 7:10am, the company's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and Operations personnel immediately responded. The source of the leak was identified, the line was isolated, and by 10:30am, there were no further leaks.

Petrotrin stated that the estimated volume of spilled hydrocarbon is approximately 1.8 barrels, and there were no further sightings of oil following marine surveillance exercises on Thursday afternoon.
