Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi has refuted claims made by the Bankers Association of Trinidad and Tobago that the country had been placed on the Financial Action Task Force Grey List.

In a Press Conference at the AGLA Towers on Tuesday afternoon, he said this was not the case.

The Attorney General said while the country had done poorly in the third and fourth round mutual assessments by the FAT-F, it had been spared from such a listing due to efforts undertaken by Government to improve legislation with regard to Anti Money Laundering and Countering of Financing Terrorism.

The Attorney General said the country was indeed vouched for by other countries, as it had shown progress in improving legislation and taking action to curb money laundering and terrorism.

He said that some comments by members of the Opposition, which were yet to be proven, were a hindrance to improving the country's international image.
