The THA Division of Education, Innovation and Energy has responded to reports of bad meals provided to students by the School Feeding Programme, which resulted in at least five students falling ill and the dismissal of at least one school.

In a news release issued on Tuesday evening, the Division said its officers were dealing with the matter seriously because the safety of the food and well being of the students were of high priority.

It said alternative meal suppliers have been assigned to the affected schools, pending conclusion of all investigations.

The Division offered its sincerest apologies to those who have been affected, and has taken steps to ensure the food provided to Tobago students is safe, healthy, and nutritious.

Only schools in Tobago East were reportedly affected by the bad meal which consisted of curried chicken and channa with rice.
