Two Weapons Found In Anti Crime Exercises In POS & Couva, 1 Man Arrested

Officers of the Inter Agency Task Force have recovered a Smith and Wesson revolver following an anti-crime exercise in the Port of Spain area on Monday.

At around 8:30pm, officers of the IATF were conducting an exercise which saw them proceed to Monsegue and Quarry Streets, East Dry River, where they observed three men standing along the roadway.

Upon seeing the officers, the men ran off.

The officers searched the area where the men were standing and found the weapon in a yellow plastic bag.

No arrests were made in connection with the find.

In another incident, officers of the Central Division arrested a Couva man and seized a firearm during an anti-crime exercise in the district on Monday afternoon.

A quantity of cocaine and ammunition were also seized during the exercise which was conducted around 2:45pm in California, Couva.

Officers executed a search warrant at the Steven Street, Couva home of the 38 year old man, who was found to be in possession of a Glock pistol, which was loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

A quantity of cocaine, weighing 45 grammes, was also found in the suspect's pants pocket.

The man was arrested in connection with the find.
