Two young children have escaped death but lost their parents after a reckless driver ploughed into the family of four while they were walking to their home in Penal Rock Road on Sunday night.

Thirty eight year old Kimchan Roopnarine and his wife, 36 year old Patricia Ali, and their two sons had spent the evening with family and were returning home when a Tiida motorcar swerved in their direction, ending their lives in mere moments.

Family members who live in the community are now pleading with Government to build pavements along the roadway, so that nightmares like these are prevented.

Janine Browne has details.
