Education Minister Anthony Garcia says it's time to change the conversation surrounding the nation's youth as he urges persons to steer clear of focusing on viral cases of violence involving young people.

His plea follows the recent video posted online which showed a teenaged boy brandishing firearms.

Minister Garcia says parents, teachers, members of the community and the media all have a part to play in reducing what he's describing as the sensationalism of criminal activity.

In his words "When we see our children with weapons, engaging in fights or any activity that is unbecoming of the type of citizen that we wish to produce in Trinidad and Tobago we must remember that these children are but products of their environment and the examples being set by the adults around them".

The Minister says the Education Ministry will be doing its part to change the conversation through stakeholder engagement both physically and virtually in the coming weeks
