Taxi Drivers Must Abide By The Law And Display Fares

Just over a week ago, the Trinidad and Tobago Taxi Drivers Network called for enforcement in the Motor Vehicle Laws, particularly Chapter 48:50, which dictates that registered taxi drivers must have on display a Statement of Fares in their vehicles.

The Association's PRO, Calvin Barker, even went as far as to say he believes the travelling public reserves the right to resist payment if they do not see the statement of fares when entering a taxi.

But why is a Statement of Fares important and why is there a $300 fine for drivers who are found without the statement of fares in their taxi?
