Two Die In St. Joseph Fire

Two people are dead following a fire in St. Joseph on Monday night.

C News understands that 88 year old Peter Felix was found dead in his two-storey house, despite attempts to rescue him.

He was bedridden.

According to reports, fire officers responded to a blaze at a house on Wellington Street, St. Joseph at around 9pm.

Officers were told two elderly brothers were trapped in the building.

They were able to get to Felix's brother, Peter, but by the time they got to the bedridden pensioner, he had already passed.

C News understands that the body of a woman was also found at the house.

She was identified as Kris Brewster, a Dominican national.

Police believe her death may have involved foul play.

Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy and they are also working on a theory that a stove may have exploded at the premises, sparking the fire.

Also in the St. Joseph area on Monday evening, police were called to investigate a shooting incident which claimed the life of a man.

The body of Kern Kendall Ester was found on Nelson Street, St. Joseph shortly after 8pm on Monday.

Gunshots were heard in the area earlier.

This incident takes the murder toll for the year to 405.
