Farmers Receive Bret Relief Cheques

Minister of Agriculture, Lands and Fisheries, Clarence Rambharat, says over 700 farmers will receive relief cheques in compensation for being affected by the passing of Tropical Storm Bret in June.

On Thursday, Minister Rambharat told reporters that his Ministry would take $12 million out of the $20 million allocated for relief from Tropical Storm Bret to pay the farmers.

At a cheque distribution ceremony at the Ministry's Head Office in Chaguanas, Mr. Rambharat said the cheques are just a start.
