A Carenage man has appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate, charged with the murder of 39 year old Nekyon Anthony Jones and burglary against his mother, Maureen Gill-Jones.

The incident occurred on Monday 18th September, 2017.

Thirty one year old fisherman Miguel Roberts, also known as 'Tata,' 'Fatboy,' and 'Winger,' of Sea View Hill in Carenage, appeared before Senior Magistrate Nanette Forde-John in the Port of Spain Magistrates' Court on Friday to answer the charges.

The matter was adjourned to Friday 24th November, 2017.

Mrs. Gill-Jones, 66, was at her home at Benedictine Street in Carenage on September 18th when she was accosted by an armed intruder inside the house.

She called out to her son who, upon seeing the gunman, fled the house.

The intruder chased Jones into the street and shot him several times in the back.

He was taken to the hospital where he died.
