Public Utilities Minister, Senator Robert Le Hunte, recently undertook a tour of WASA installations in areas of East Port of Spain, in an on-the-ground attempt to address water supply issues in the area.

One of the problems identified at the Clifton Reservoir, a major catchment facility in the area, was the lack of preventative maintenance, including the maintenance of the area around the facility.

The Minister was accompanied by Port of Spain Deputy Mayor, Hillean Morean, who gave an undertaking to attend to some of the concerns.

The Deputy Mayor, in collaboration with WASA, also undertook the repair of 10 outstanding leaks in the area over the past week.

The Public Utilities Minister has undertaken an aggressive leak repair programme throughout the country in order to curb the huge volumes of water lost through leakages in WASA's distribution system.
